Mary-Kate Olsen and Johnny Depp have been wearing 90s grunge for a while now, sometimes hitting it dead on and sometimes hitting it only so-so. This year, 90s fashion is becoming huge again, and boots, dresses and flower prints all work together, but how do you know if you’ve crossed the line?
Enter Joy Bryant, at left. Joy almost always looks stunning and hip, but she’s taken one too many cues from MK with this homeless look. Actually, MK would never wear those boots with that soggy-looking flannel THING: she’d at least wear her Balenciaga booties and expensive jewelry. Also, what’s with the faded army jacket, Goodwill bike and hackey sack bag?
If your’e going to go grunge or homeless this season as part of a fashion statement, just make sure you wear a little makeup, throw your business in a leather bag and wear something that differentiates you from those who sleep on the sidewalk.
