I still throw on my leggings underneath tunics and jean jackets on weekends and lazy days, but I’m about ready to toss the Lindsay Lohan staple out for good.
On Wednesday, Susan Joy of The New York Times wrote about her obsession with “this season’s most covetable accents,” feminine, lacy tights. But before you think that lace tights can only be worn with sexy secretary looks, Joy points out these this season’s hosiery is more modern and fun. In fact, everyone from Spanx to Urban Outfitters (to Rodarte, if you think your tights will last longer than a month or so) have their own versions of lace patterned tights, including these Antique Lace Tights at Nordstrom.
In her article, Joy interviews singer-songwriter Maggie Kim, who loves how wearing lace tights “seems like you put a lot of thought into your outfit, but it couldn’t be easier.” I’m already planning out new outfits centered around lacy tights: black mini skirts and my new cashmere sweater; under a black wool jumper; and with a range of boots, heels and flats that make wearing them all the more fun.
