Notes on The City

Because there’s still one more week until Gossip Girl comes back, we’ll have to settle for a recap of last night’s premier of The City. The first episode was full of pretty fashion and gleefully uncomfortable moments between Olivia and Everyone Else, but towards the second episode, things got a little lame and followed in the footsteps of noisy, drunk club scenes from The Hills. Here are my notes for MTV.

1. On an island that’s probably the size of Beverly Hills, thank you for qualifying each neighborhood that Whitney visits, and letting us know when she leaves the Meatpacking District for Erin’s apartment, Gramercy.

2. WHAT does Erin do that she can afford such a huge, well-designed apartment?

3. Ohhh, that’s why Olivia’s getting nasty on the show: because before Whitney showed up, she was the random “celebrity” impostor who pretended to work at DVF. Talk about stealing someone’s thunder.

4. Who is Kelly Cutrone’s MTV informant that keeps her focused on such important things like model Alex or Whitney’s dry cleaning needs?

5. How much is MTV paying Jay? No, really?

6. As if Whitney has time to go on a date the night before the DVF show.

6. How flipped out was Olivia at trying to figure out a new place setting when Jay showed up at her dinner party? That was awesome, by the way.

7. Best part of the show: Behati and Karlie on the runway, and the glimpse of Coco backstage. Period.
