In just 11 days, Fashion Week season starts, and if you’re tired of your leather leggings already, get ready to get inspired by the newest designs, starting in Milan. Although neither the exact designs or the knock-offs will be in stores, the Fall/Winter 09 shows hit at just the right time: when it’s still cold enough to wear layers and heavy fabrics, and when last year’s (technically still this season’s) designs are getting boring and it’s easy to immediately recreate the freshest looks as soon as possible. Here’s a look at the tentative schedules, in case you plan on crashing any shows.
Milan (menswear so far): Saturday, Jan. 17 – Wed. Jan. 21. Highlights: Jil Sander and Burberry Prorsum on the 17th; Bottega Venetta and Vivienne Westwood on the 18th; Prada on the 19th.
Paris: Monday, Jan. 26 – Wed. Jan. 28. Highlights: Dior at Musee Rodin on the 26th; two Chanel shows on the 27th; Givenchy on the 27th; and Valentino, Elie Saab and JPG on the 28th.
New York: Friday, Feb. 13 – Fri. Feb. 20. Bryant Park is still the main attraction, but designers like Vera Wang, Donna Karan and Betsey Johnson are scaling down to in-store and in-studio presentations and shows.
London: Friday, Feb. 20 – Wed. Feb. 25. Highlights: Twenty8Twelve on the 22nd; Luella and Giles on the 23rd; Henry Holland on the 24th.
