MTV is starting to get it right again.
Andy Samberg was hysterical as the MTV Movie Awards host, TRL is dead, and Alexa Chung is giving teen girls a real reason to copycat the fashion they see on TV.
The British model — she started out with Storm in her teens and returned to modeling last year when she walked for Vivienne Westwood — and TV presenter is coming to MTV next Monday to host her own show, “It’s On with Alexa Chung.” Why should you watch? Alexa’s gorgeous in that street/sweet sort of way, and her style is the perfect, effortless mix of freshness, retro, badass and vintage charm that trumps the boobs and hoops fashion so often showcased on MTV (see Chung win here and here).
When asked about her personal style and influence, Chung responds, “I am honored that so many people think I’m a style icon. It’s a pretty tough label to live up to sometimes, though, but I think style should be effortless and individual.”
And another reason to girl crush on her? “I never decide what I wear until the last minute and it depends on my mood,” she says, “but I always dress for myself and not to impress boys! If anything I dress to impress girls and think it’s much nicer to get compliments from females.”
And that’s how Alexa Chung is saving teen girls everywhere.
